Sapa Relax at a glance

Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa is an eight-storey town hotel with 58 rooms at 19A Dong Loi Street, right in the middle of Sa Pa, topped by an open-air terrace with clear glass domes that looks across to the Hoang Lien mountains. Its real strength is position: the Stone Church is five minutes away on foot and the Muong Hoa train to the Fansipan cable car four. Its real limit: there is no swimming pool and no gym, whatever some listings say, and the main spa sits in another building 670 m down the road.

It fits best if you plan to see Sa Pa on foot by day and would rather end the evening on a rooftop facing the mountains than beside a pool.

Why guests choose Sapa Relax

Three reasons come up again and again in guest reviews, and each one can be checked on a map or in a photo before you book.

A rooftop with glass domes

The open-air terrace has clear domes to sit inside when the wind picks up, mint-green café chairs and a glass-walled café. On a clear evening the sun drops behind the Hoang Lien range straight ahead.

The whole town on foot

The Stone Church and the square are 325 m away, about five minutes’ walk, and the Muong Hoa train to the Fansipan cable car leaves from Sun Plaza, 270 m away. Sa Pa Lake is a ten-minute stroll.

Balconies that face the peaks

Executive Mountain View rooms (about 30 m²) and the 70 m² Suite open onto balconies over the valley. Book one of these if the view is the point; the entry-level Superior has only a small window.

Which room to book at Sapa Relax

For most couples the Executive Mountain View is the room to book: about 30 m², a balcony and the valley in front of you. Deluxe and Premium rooms face the town, the Suite adds a separate living room and a bathtub, and the Family room sleeps four in two rooms.

Where is Sapa Relax?

Sapa Relax stands at 19A Dong Loi Street in the centre of Sa Pa, 270 m from Sun Plaza and 325 m from the Stone Church. Everything in town is walkable, but the street climbs: the walk up to the square is short and steep, and cars may stop short of the door, so staff may carry your bags the last stretch.

Is Sapa Relax right for you?

Sapa Relax suits a particular kind of trip. Here is who usually comes away happy, and who should keep looking.

A good fit if you

  • plan to walk to the Stone Church, the market streets and the Fansipan train rather than take taxis.
  • arrive on a night bus or train: guests are often allowed to leave bags and wait in the lobby from early morning.
  • want mountains from your balcony and will book the Executive Mountain View or the Suite, not a city-view room.
  • are four people who want two connected rooms under one booking in the Family City View.

Look elsewhere if you

  • need a swimming pool or a gym: there is neither, whatever some listings say.
  • sleep lightly: guests mention thin walls, the lift and roosters at dawn, and some bathrooms show their age.
  • need a step-free arrival with heavy cases: the street is steep and cars may not reach the entrance.

Sapa Relax FAQ: what guests ask before booking

Straight answers to what booking pages leave out — walking times measured on a map, policies compared across listings, and anything only the hotel can confirm marked as a question to ask. Facts checked October 2026.

Location & getting there7

Where exactly is Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa?

Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa is at 19A Dong Loi Street, Sa Pa ward, Lao Cai province, in the centre of town between Sun Plaza and the Stone Church. In July 2025 Sa Pa’s six town wards were merged into a single Sa Pa ward, so older listings may show another ward name or postcode; the building has not moved. Vietnamese maps write the street as Đông Lợi or Đồng Lợi; both are the same street.

How long is the walk from Sapa Relax to the Stone Church, and is it steep?

It is 325 m, about five minutes on foot, measured along a walking route from the hotel. The catch is the gradient: Dong Loi Street climbs towards the square, so the way there is a short, steep pull and the way back is downhill. Sun Plaza is even closer at 270 m (four minutes), and Sa Pa Lake is 740 m, about ten minutes away.

Can a taxi drop me at the door of Sapa Relax?

Not always. Guests report that cars sometimes stop short of the entrance on the narrow, sloping street, and hotel staff come down to carry luggage the last few metres. Send your arrival time with your booking so someone can meet the car; this is on request — ask the hotel when you book. A backpack copes with Sa Pa’s hills better than a large wheeled case.

Where does the bus from Hanoi stop, and how do I reach Sapa Relax from there?

Most sleeper buses and limousine vans from Hanoi finish at Sa Pa bus station, 302 Dien Bien Phu Street, about 1.5 km from the hotel on foot by our map measurement (as of October 2026). From there a taxi to Dong Loi Street takes a few minutes, or you can walk with some climbing. Several van companies will drop passengers in the town centre, so ask yours whether it can stop near the hotel.

How do I get from Lao Cai railway station to Sapa Relax?

Lao Cai station is 33.6 km from Sapa Relax by road, and the mountain road takes about 45–60 minutes. Shared minivans meet the morning trains and charge about VND 40,000–60,000 a person (as of October 2026), dropping you in the town centre; a private car costs more but comes closer to the door. A hotel pick-up is on request — ask the hotel when you book and agree the price first.

How do I get from Sapa Relax to the Fansipan cable car?

Walk four minutes (270 m) from Sapa Relax to Sun Plaza and take the Muong Hoa mountain train down to the cable car station; by road the station is 2.9 km away if you prefer a taxi. As of October 2026 the last cable car up leaves at 14:30 Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, and at 15:30 on Friday and Saturday, so set off before lunch.

Does Sapa Relax arrange transfers from Noi Bai airport?

Yes, on request: listings show a hotel car from Noi Bai airport at VND 350,000 per person each way, booked at least 24 hours ahead. The drive is 291 km and takes about 5–6 hours, so most travellers take a sleeper bus or limousine van from Hanoi instead, or the night train to Lao Cai. Confirm the route, vehicle and price with the hotel in writing before you travel.

Rooms & views6

Which rooms at Sapa Relax actually face the mountains?

Two room types are sold as mountain view: the Executive Mountain View (about 30 m², with a balcony) and the Suite Mountain View (about 70 m², with a living room and bathtub). Deluxe, Premium and Family rooms face the town, and some city-view windows look straight at neighbouring buildings. The exact outlook still depends on floor and position, so ask for a high floor; that part is on request.

Can you see Fansipan from Sapa Relax?

On a clear day the mountain-view rooms and the rooftop at Sapa Relax look west across the valley to the Hoang Lien range, where Fansipan stands. Whether you see the summit depends on cloud, which often sits on the high peaks, so treat it as a bonus rather than a promise. October and November usually bring the clearest days; February to April is often misty.

Does the Superior room at Sapa Relax have a view?

No. The Superior is the entry room: about 25 m² with a double or twin beds and a walk-in shower, and the hotel describes it as having a small window and no view. It suits travellers who will be out trekking all day and only need a clean bed. If you want daylight and an outlook, the Deluxe City View (about 30 m²) is the next step up.

Do all rooms at Sapa Relax have a balcony?

No. The Superior has none, and the Deluxe City View comes with either a balcony or a large window, depending on the room. The Executive Mountain View, Premium City View, Suite and Family room all have balconies, and the Premium’s is described as large. If a balcony is the reason you are booking, choose Executive or above rather than Deluxe.

Which rooms at Sapa Relax have a bathtub?

The Premium City View (about 40 m²) and the Suite Mountain View (about 70 m²) have bathtubs; in the Suite it stands in a corner of a large bathroom. The Superior, Deluxe and Executive rooms have walk-in showers. The Family City View has a roomy bathroom, but bath or shower can vary, so if you need a tub there, ask the hotel when you book.

Are the rooms at Sapa Relax quiet at night?

Mostly, but not completely. Walls are thin in places, and guests mention the lift, roosters at dawn, a kindergarten nearby in the morning and occasional building work. For the best chance of an undisturbed night, ask for a high floor away from the lift when you book. It is a request the hotel may not be able to meet, so light sleepers should pack earplugs.

Rooftop, spa & facilities5

Does Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa have a swimming pool or a gym?

No. Sapa Relax has no swimming pool and no gym, even though at least one booking listing mentions an outdoor pool and a fitness centre. Other listings and the hotel’s own website show neither, and a pool sometimes listed as nearby belongs to a different hotel. If swimming matters on this trip, look at the resorts outside the town centre instead.

What is on the rooftop at Sapa Relax?

The rooftop at Sapa Relax is an open-air terrace facing the Hoang Lien mountains, with mint-green café chairs, grey sofas with orange cushions, clear glass domes you can sit inside and a glass-walled café. Guests go up for hot chocolate and the sunset over the ridges. Opening hours, the café’s current name and whether non-guests can use it are not published — ask the front desk.

Is the spa inside Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa?

Only partly. The hotel building has two massage rooms, while the main Relax Massage & Spa is in a separate building at 50A Thach Son Street, 670 m from the hotel and about nine minutes on foot. That is where the herbal baths and most treatments take place. Ask the front desk to book a time slot for you, and check which treatments are offered in the hotel itself.

What treatments does the Sapa Relax spa offer, and when is it open?

The spa lists Red Dao herbal baths, foot massage, traditional H’Mong massage, body and herbal massages, facials and combination packages. Opening hours differ between sources — from 09:00 or 10:00 until midnight or 01:00 — so check on the day you want to go. Prices are not published in one consistent place; ask the spa or the front desk before you book a treatment.

Does Sapa Relax have a lift?

Yes. Sapa Relax has a lift serving all eight floors, which matters in a building this tall on a street this steep. The trade-off is sound: a few guests in rooms beside the lift shaft say they heard it at night, so ask for a room away from it if you sleep lightly. That request is not guaranteed, but it is worth adding to your booking.

Food & breakfast4

Is breakfast included at Sapa Relax?

It depends on the rate you choose: Sapa Relax is sold both with and without breakfast, and the two options sit side by side on the booking page. General listings contradict each other on this, so go by the description of the exact rate you pick. A price for adding breakfast on the day is not published — ask at the front desk.

What time is breakfast at Sapa Relax, and what is served?

Breakfast at Sapa Relax is an Asian and Western buffet from 06:30 to 10:00 in the hotel restaurant. Guests mention eggs cooked to order, Vietnamese dishes and fresh fruit, with lychees in season. Hours can shift, so check them at check-in. If you leave early for a trek or the Fansipan train, ask the evening before whether something can be packed for you; that is on request.

Can you have lunch or dinner at Sapa Relax?

Yes. The hotel restaurant serves Vietnamese dishes, Sa Pa specialities and Western plates from 11:00 to 22:30, with last orders at 21:30, according to the hotel’s website. Its name varies between listings, most often Muong Hoa. Many guests eat in town instead: one review site counts more than 170 restaurants within about 500 m of the hotel.

Can Sapa Relax cater for vegetarians?

There is no published meat-free menu at Sapa Relax, so vegetarian and vegan meals are on request — ask the hotel when you book and remind the restaurant at breakfast. The buffet’s fruit and egg dishes are a start, and the streets around the Stone Church, five minutes away, are full of restaurants where you can ask for dishes without meat or fish sauce.

Check-in & policies5

When can I check in and out at Sapa Relax, and is late check-out possible?

Rooms at Sapa Relax are ready from 14:00 and must be vacated by 12:00, and every listing we read gives the same times. Staying on is possible when the room is not needed: until 18:00 it costs 50% of one night’s rate, and after 18:00 a whole night. Whoever checks in must be 18 or over and show a passport or ID card.

Can I check in early at Sapa Relax after a night bus or train?

Early check-in is not guaranteed, but guests who arrive off the night bus around 05:00 regularly report being allowed to leave bags, freshen up and wait in the lobby until a room was ready. If a room is free you may get it early; otherwise plan breakfast or a walk. The only way to guarantee a room at dawn is to book the night before.

Does Sapa Relax take a deposit at check-in?

It may. Listings say the hotel can ask for a card hold or a cash deposit to cover extras such as the minibar or massages, but no amount is published, so ask the hotel when you book. Bring your passport, and your visa if you need one; the front desk takes a copy at check-in. Visa, Mastercard and cash are accepted.

Can I arrive at Sapa Relax late at night?

Yes, but tell the hotel first. One listing describes a 24-hour front desk while another says there is no check-in after hours, so the safe move is to send your arrival time with your booking if you will reach Sa Pa late in the evening. Ask the hotel to confirm that someone will be at the desk when you get there.

Does Sapa Relax allow pets or smoking?

No to both. Sapa Relax does not accept pets, and every room is non-smoking; several listings describe the whole property as smoke-free. If you smoke, ask the front desk where you can do so outside the building. Travellers with an assistance animal should contact the hotel before booking.

Families & children4

Do children stay free at Sapa Relax?

Children up to 5 usually stay free when they share their parents’ bed. For children aged 6 to 11 there is a supplement of about VND 150,000 that includes breakfast, and from 12 they are charged as adults. Expect about VND 300,000 for an extra bed. Sources give slightly different figures, so confirm when you book.

Can Sapa Relax provide a baby cot?

Do not count on it. One source says cots are available on request, while others say no cot can be added in any room type, so ask the hotel when you book and get the answer in writing. If the hotel cannot supply one, pack a travel cot; the Family City View has the most floor space, at about 70 m² over two rooms.

Which room at Sapa Relax suits a family of four?

The Family City View: about 70 m² split into two connected rooms, with a double bed and single beds, for up to four guests. It faces the town rather than the mountains. Sizes differ by listing (60 to 90 m²), and on the booking page it appears as De Luxe Family, so match it by the four-person capacity rather than by name.

Is Sapa Relax practical with a pushchair or toddlers?

Inside, yes: a lift serves all eight floors. Outside is harder, because Dong Loi Street is steep, cars may stop short of the entrance and Sa Pa’s pavements are uneven, so a baby carrier beats a pushchair for walks to the square and the lake. The Stone Church is only 325 m away, which keeps trips back for naps short.

Practical5

Do the rooms at Sapa Relax have heating in winter?

Ask before you book a winter stay. Listings mention heating, but a January 2026 guest reported no heater in their room, and Sa Pa nights from December to February can drop close to freezing. Ask the hotel whether your room has a heater or a two-way air conditioner and whether an electric blanket is available; it is on request — ask the hotel when you book.

Is the Wi-Fi at Sapa Relax good enough for working?

Wi-Fi is free throughout Sapa Relax, but a few guests describe it as patchy in their rooms, and we found no speed test worth quoting. If you need video calls, test the connection on arrival and ask the front desk for help if it drops. A Vietnamese SIM or eSIM with mobile data is a sensible back-up for remote work.

Can Sapa Relax store luggage and book treks or buses?

Yes. Sapa Relax keeps luggage at the front desk before check-in, after check-out and while you are away on an overnight trek. The tour desk can arrange treks, tickets and buses back to Hanoi, and bicycles can be hired; reviews often mention reception staff helping with plans. Compare a tour’s price with an agency or two in town before you pay.

Is there parking at Sapa Relax?

There is on-site parking, but listings disagree on whether it is free, and space on a steep town-centre street is tight. Treat it as on request — ask the hotel when you book whether a space can be held and what it costs. If you drive up from Hanoi, allow 5–6 hours for the road and aim to arrive in daylight.

Is Sapa Relax the same hotel as Relax Sapa Hotel & Spa?

Yes. The sign in the lobby reads Relax Sapa Hotel & Spa, booking sites use Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa, sometimes with a management company added, and some blogs shorten it to Relax Sapa. All mean the same 58-room hotel at 19A Dong Loi Street. Check that address on the booking page; copycat listing sites also show wrong details, such as 35 rooms.

When to go3

How cold does Sa Pa get in winter, and what should I pack for Sapa Relax?

December and January average around 8–10°C in Sa Pa, nights can fall below freezing, and some winters bring frost or snow. Pack a warm jacket, layers and thick socks, and ask the hotel whether your room has a heater before you book. Winter days on the rooftop can still be bright, but the terrace is open-air, so dress for the wind.

When is the best time for clear mountain views from Sapa Relax?

October and November usually bring the driest, clearest weather, which is your best chance of long views from the rooftop and the mountain-view rooms. September and early October add golden rice terraces in the valleys. From February to April mist is common, and June to August is the wettest stretch, with rain on around 23 days in August.

How far ahead should I book Sapa Relax for Tết and public holidays?

Book weeks rather than days ahead for Tết and Vietnamese holidays. During Tết 2026 Sa Pa received about 215,000 visitors and hotel occupancy reached 95–100% on peak days between 14 and 22 February; Lao Cai province counted about 450,000 visitors over the 2 September holiday. Mountain-view and family rooms are the scarcest types, so secure those first on a refundable rate.
