The rooftop, the spa and breakfast at Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa

Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa has a rooftop terrace and glass-walled café facing the mountains, a restaurant serving a buffet breakfast, a lift and two massage rooms — but no swimming pool and no gym. The full spa, where the Red Dao herbal baths are, is the partner Relax Massage & Spa in a separate building at 50A Thach Son Street, about a nine-minute walk away.

What each space is really like

Open rooftop terrace with white tables and parasols, cloud lying along a mountain range at sunset

Rooftop · Open air · Mountain view

The rooftop terrace

An open terrace on the edge of town with white tables, parasols and a straight line of sight to the Hoang Lien range. On clear evenings the sun drops behind the peaks; on many mornings the valley below fills with cloud. It is exposed, so it is cold and windy in winter.

Good for a hot chocolate at sunset, or your first look at the mountains after a night bus. Know first opening hours, the café’s name and whether outside visitors can come up are not published — ask the front desk.

Rooftop · Clear domes · Sheltered seating

The glass domes

Several clear domes stand on the terrace, fitted with cushions, low tables and candles, so you can sit out of the wind and still watch the sky and the town. No booking listing mentions them; we know of them from the hotel’s own photographs.

Good for a sheltered evening drink for two when the wind picks up. Know first whether they can be reserved, carry a charge or are kept for events is not published — on request, so ask the hotel when you book.

The restaurant

The hotel restaurant serves Vietnamese and Western dishes after breakfast, à la carte from 11:00 to 22:30 according to the hotel. Its name changes from one source to the next — booking sites often call it Muong Hoa — so ask for “the hotel restaurant” at the desk.

Good for a warm dinner on a wet evening without walking back uphill. Know first dozens of restaurants sit within a few minutes’ walk in the town centre, so you are not tied to the hotel kitchen.

06:30–10:00 · Buffet · Asian and Western

The breakfast buffet

Breakfast is a buffet of Asian and Western dishes with plenty of fresh fruit, and guests mention eggs cooked to order. Whether it is part of your stay depends on the rate you choose on the booking page: some include it and some do not.

Good for eating well before an early trek or the first train up to Fansipan. Know first the price of breakfast for a room-only rate is not published, so choosing a rate that includes it is the safer bet.

The Red Dao herbal bath

Illustration — not a photograph of the spa

The spa behind the hotel’s name is mostly a partner business: Relax Massage & Spa, in another building about 670 m away. Its menu covers the Red Dao herbal bath, a hot soak in water boiled with forest herbs, plus foot, body and traditional H’Mong massage and facials. Inside the hotel there are only two massage rooms.

Good for aching legs after a day on the Muong Hoa trails. Know first the hotel does not publish spa prices; as a guide, herbal baths at mid-range Sa Pa spas cost about VND 150,000–300,000 a session (as of July 2025).

Rates change with the date and the room type, and the booking page spells out what each one includes — breakfast among them.

Getting the most from the rooftop, breakfast and spa

01

Go up at dawn and again at sunset

Morning cloud often fills the valley below the terrace, and the range turns to a silhouette as the sun sets behind it. October and November usually bring the clearest skies; February to April are often misty.

02

Reserve the herbal bath for after your trek

Walk the nine minutes to Thach Son Street or ask the front desk to book a time for you. Ask for the current menu, and whether hotel guests get a discount; that is on request — ask the front desk.

03

Pick a rate with breakfast

Breakfast is in some rates and not others, and the room-only price is not published. Vegetarian or other special meals are on request — ask the hotel when you book.

Honest note

There is no swimming pool and no gym, even though some booking-site descriptions mention an outdoor pool and a fitness centre; the pool shown nearby on one site belongs to a different hotel. And the spa is not in this building: the full spa is a nine-minute walk away, with only two massage rooms inside the hotel.

Questions about the rooftop, spa and dining at Sapa Relax

How do I get from Sapa Relax to the Relax spa on Thach Son Street?

On foot it is about 670 m, roughly nine minutes through the town centre, and you can ask the front desk to point you the right way or book your time before you leave. The spa stays open late — until midnight on the hotel’s website, 1 a.m. on its map listing — so an evening bath after a trek is realistic. Take an umbrella in the wet season.

Are the glass domes on the Sapa Relax rooftop free to sit in?

Nobody publishes an answer. The domes appear only in the hotel’s own photographs, not in any listing, so whether you can simply walk in, need to order from the café, or must reserve one is a question for the hotel. It is on request — ask the hotel when you book, especially for a special evening.

What happens during a Red Dao herbal bath, and who should skip it?

You sit in a wooden tub of hot water brewed from local herbs, usually for 15 to 20 minutes and rarely more than 25, then rest and drink tea. A July 2025 guide to the bath advises waiting if you have open wounds, a fever or allergies, and not bathing straight after a heavy meal or alcohol. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, check with a doctor first.

Does Sapa Relax have a sauna or steam room?

Not one that every source agrees on. Some listings mention a sauna and one review a hot tub, but the most detailed listing for the hotel itself shows only two massage rooms, and the sauna may belong to the partner spa on Thach Son Street. If a sauna matters to your trip, ask the hotel when you book.

How late can I order dinner at the Sapa Relax restaurant?

The hotel’s website lists à la carte service from 11:00 to 22:30 with last orders at 21:30. That page also contains template text from elsewhere, so treat the hours as a guide and check at the desk if you are arriving late; plenty of restaurants in the centre stay open into the evening.

Can Sapa Relax serve breakfast early for a trek or the Fansipan train?

The buffet opens at 06:30, which leaves time to eat before the Fansipan cable car starts at around 07:30 to 08:00, depending on the day (as of October 2026). For a pre-dawn start, ask the front desk the night before whether an earlier breakfast or a packed breakfast is possible — it is on request, not a set service.

Is there anywhere to swim near Sapa Relax?

Not at the hotel. The pool some sites show as being under 100 m away belongs to Amazing Hotel Sapa, a separate property, and whether it takes outside visitors is up to that hotel. In winter an outdoor pool in Sa Pa is rarely appealing anyway; the herbal bath is the local way to warm up.

Come for the rooftop and the herbal bath, not a pool

Check what each rate includes — breakfast comes with some and not others — before you choose your room.
