Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa: check-in, children, extra beds and winter nights
Check-in at Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa is from 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00; staying until 18:00 costs half of one night’s rate and staying later costs a full one, if a room is free. Off a night bus at dawn, plan to leave your bags and wait rather than go straight to bed — unless your booking starts the night before.
Facts checked October 2026 against the hotel’s published information.

Three things that catch guests out
Arriving 5–6 a.m. · Check-in 14:00
Arriving off the night bus
Night buses from Hanoi can reach Sa Pa before 6 a.m., and the night train to Lao Cai leaves you about an hour by road short of town. Check-in is from 14:00 and an early room depends on one being free. Guests who arrive at dawn report leaving their bags, washing and waiting in the lobby or café.
Do this if you need a bed straight away, start your booking on the previous date so the room is already yours. Don’t assume an early check-in; it is on request — ask the hotel when you book.
Check rates for your dates →December–February · Near freezing at night
Cold winter nights
From December to February Sa Pa averages around 8 to 10°C, and nights can fall below freezing. Some listings mention heating, but one guest in January 2026 found no heater in the room, and an older review says the air conditioning was set from reception.
Do this ask when you book whether your room has a heater or a two-way air conditioner, and pack warm layers for the rooftop. Don’t assume every room is heated just because a listing says so.
Check rates for your dates →Steep lane · Lift inside
Bags and the last few metres
The hotel sits on a slope a short climb below the town centre, and one guest reports their car could not reach the door, so staff carried the bags the rest of the way. Once you are inside, a lift serves the guest floors.
Do this message the hotel your arrival time and how you are travelling, so someone can meet you, and pack a bag you can carry a short way uphill. Don’t assume a taxi or bus will stop at the entrance.

If you need a bed at dawn, start your stay a date earlier. Each rate on the booking page lists its own cancellation terms.
Before you set off for Sapa Relax
01
Put every request in writing
Use the special-requests box when you book for early check-in, a heater, a cot or a high floor, then repeat the list through the booking site’s messages. Requests are on request — ask the hotel when you book and wait for a reply.
02
Carry your passport, not a photo of it
Hotels in Vietnam register foreign guests with the local authorities, so the desk needs the passport you entered on, and your visa or e-visa if you needed one.
03
Pack for cool evenings in any month
Sa Pa sits at about 1,600 m, so evenings are cool for much of the year and properly cold in winter. A warm layer makes the rooftop far more pleasant after dark.
Honest note
Several rules here come from sources that do not agree with each other: child charges, extra-bed prices and whether a cot is available all vary between listings, and the hotel’s own website has no full policy page. Treat the figures as a guide and go by what your booking confirmation says.
More questions about staying at Sapa Relax
If I book Sapa Relax from the night before, can I go to my room at dawn?
Yes — that is the reliable way to have a bed at 5 or 6 a.m., because the room is already yours from the previous date. Tell the hotel you will arrive early in the morning so they hold it rather than treat you as a no-show. It costs an extra night, but after a sleeper bus most people find it worth it.
Can I shower at Sapa Relax before my room is ready?
Guests who arrived on early buses report being offered somewhere to wash and change while they waited, but this is a courtesy, not a published service. It is on request — ask the hotel when you book, and keep a change of clothes at the top of your bag so you can freshen up quickly.
How is the Sapa Relax late check-out charge worked out?
It is a share of the rate for one night of your stay: half if you leave by 18:00, the full amount if you stay later. It depends on the room being free that day, so ask at the desk the evening before rather than on the morning itself, and pay the charge at the hotel.
Do children aged 12 or over pay the adult rate at Sapa Relax?
Yes. From 12 the hotel counts a child as an adult, which in most rooms means paying for an extra bed, since every room except Family City View is set up for two. For two adults and a teenager, compare the cost of an extra bed with the Family room, which sleeps four.
Will Sapa Relax keep my passport during my stay?
The desk needs your passport at check-in because hotels in Vietnam must register foreign guests’ stays with the local authorities. Hotels normally record or scan the details and hand it back. If the desk asks to hold it, ask when you can collect it, and keep a photo of the main page on your phone.
Is the Sapa Relax airport transfer a private car or a shared vehicle?
It is not stated. The transfer from Noi Bai is listed at VND 350,000 per person each way (as of October 2026), with 24 hours’ notice, and per-person pricing suggests a shared vehicle. The drive is about 5 to 6 hours, so ask the hotel when you book what kind of vehicle it is and where it picks up.
What if my bus is delayed and I reach Sapa Relax after midnight?
Message the hotel as soon as you know. One listing describes a 24-hour front desk while another says there is no check-in after hours, so do not rely on walking in late unannounced. Telling them your new arrival time also stops the booking being cancelled as a no-show.
Does Sapa Relax take a deposit if I have prepaid on the booking site?
It can. Prepaying covers the room, but the hotel may still hold a deposit on your card, or take one in cash, to cover anything charged to the room, like minibar drinks or restaurant bills. The amount is not published, so ask at check-in, and check that any hold on your card is released when you leave.
Do the rules at Sapa Relax change at Tết?
For bookings made directly with the hotel, a published policy from June 2025 says stays over Tết cannot be changed or cancelled. Through a booking site, the terms of the rate you pick apply instead. Sa Pa fills up at Tết — hotels reported 95–100% occupancy on peak days in 2026 — so book early.
Rules sorted. Now pick your dates
Before you pay, check two things on the booking page: the cancellation terms of your rate and whether breakfast is included.
